    Hello All,

I seem to be running into a problem building a computer. I have built many, many computers over time, but I'm not exactly sure what the problem is here.

I am trying to put together an energy-efficient PC for media purposes. Here is what I have:

    MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127033
    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231145
    CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
    VGA: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131338
HDD: 4 7200 RPM hdd's at different sizes
    and
    PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152028

I know this isn't the MOST energy efficient, but I had these parts lying around for the most part except for the VGA and PSU.

Anyway, I connected everything except the HDD's and I get absolutely no video. I went through the power calculator at newegg and it said I would be good with a $450W PSU, so I went the safe route and bought a $530W PSU to give myself some leg room. I tried putting the VGA in my 1000W beasty machine and it showed video just fine, so I know the card works. The mobo doesn't have onboard video to disable.

I am hoping somebody out there could help me out. If I need a new, bigger PSU, I will go pick one up no problem. I would just like to find that it is something stupid I have done.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks buddies.

is the on board led display not giving a fault code ?
if not the motherboard would be the first place to look

Yeah, it says 7F which the manual says is:

Switch back to text mode if full screen logo is supported
-If errors occur, report errors & wait for keys
-If no errors occur or F1 key is pressed to continue: Clear EPA or customization logo

so it appears as though it is waiting for me to press the F1 key or something (probably because i reset BIOS)

I had this mobo running less than a week ago so I wouldn't expect it would be the mobo.

Thanks for your replay. Any other ideas?

the only thing i can think of is some of the newer graphics cards are not compatible with older mother boards or should i say the older pci e slots something to do with the newer graphics cards work at a lower voltages and wider bandwidths

from having a quick read on the subject it appears to be a bios issue as pci e 2.0 / 2,1 are supposed to be backwards compatible but some m/board manufactures never bothered to upgrade the bios to 2.1 compatibility

i'm not sure if thats your issue but it's worth looking into

Like you said in the part that I bolded, have you disabled in BIOS the two culprits stated yet? I think EPA is an energy saving state and don't know about the logo.

you say you had the mobo running at one time was that with the same graphics card ?
