    Geeks,
You've always been helpful. After a trillion hours, I am left with nothing but the hope that you all may be able to bail me out once again. Here's what's going on.

    History.
My PC(details below) has been shutting down constantly. Start up. Windows starts. Recovers from critical errors. 30 seconds of operation time and bam. System shuts down instantly. I disabled Hyperthreading and this stopped.

    Present.
I needed the hard drive to I took it out. Enter new hard drive. Installing WinXp Pro never gets furhther than about 65% through. System shuts down. Blue screen. Hyperthreading still disabled.

    Bluescreen Details.

I think a BIOS update may be a good idea but I dont have a 3.5" floppy disk. Any Help? What do you think?

    Thanks,
    Matt

It is possible, (if you can access your BIOS), to use a USB device, (such as a memory stick or even MP3 player), as a device to store your BIOS file on instead of floppy disks.
You can basically use it instead of a floppy, provided your mobo supports it.

That is, if it is a BIOS issue. If not, it could be your RAM.

Try with 1 stick of RAM in slot 1.

I tried the 1 stick in slot 1. The problem persisted. I did not however, swap the ram after that. So, if it was that stick then it could still be the issue. I didnt swap it becuase the problem stopped in 2000 after i disabled hyper threading. But, after installing XP...well actually in the middle of installing it...the problem came back. So there seems to be some sort of issue with xp.

how could i flash from an external usb device?

As I said if your motherboard supports it, you go into your bios and look for the option.
