Last night I was surfing around and my connection dropped out, did the mandatory reboot of cable modem and reboot computer. No luck, so I called up charter and they checked things on their end and said they could see the modem, but it wasnt sending. I picked up a new modem today, still no go.

I run Vista and am getting the limited connectivity. If I look at the LAN connection its showing 100mbs connected, but cant connect to anything. The modem was hooked thru a netgear wgr614v6, but that has ceased functioning as of last night(all the lights are on and wont shut off)

I had the desktop setup to have a static ip for the netgear and wondered if that had something to do with it? I am able to use the ethernet on our laptop, so its the desktop that has the issue. Ive looked at some articles on the net and havent had much sucess. Thanks for any input.
