Not sure whats going on????

Down by the clock I have a shield it blinks from a red X to a blue question mark. I put the mouse over it nothing. But it does pop up a system alert that says to click it to remove the spyware It has found. But when you click it it just opens ups a blank web page. I cant right click the shield. I have ran adware and spybot and ccleaner all in safe mode and normal mode. But it continues to be there. Any sugesstions on how I can stop it???? Thank you very much for your help.

If this is likey malware as you have a thread in the malware forum in which your link and the description you give to multiple popups and a redirect, plus toolbar all are classic malware signs, so please follow the advice and run the Read Me Guide and attach the logs in your malware thread here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=148613

Yeah, I agree with Halo. It is what we call "rogue-ware"... meaning that it poses as a legitimate antispyware program by telling you that you have infected files, when it's really an infected file telling you this! If you were to actually go thru with what it says, you'd be prompted at some point to install more software (more rogue-ware or malware) and usually send some money to buy the "full" version to clean everything. It's all a scam to get money and to infect your PC and to get your credit card number. Stay away! And visit the link provided above by Halo, and do it now!!!
