not sure where to post this, new to computers

Hi im not too good with computers but if told what to do i can do it
But anyways im using SBC Yahoo DSL, im running off the main computer via wireless router.
Now my thing is, how do i change my IP? Do i have to notify the company? And will it affect anything bad?
My brother decided to suicide my account on a forum (its not me lol), so i have no choice but to change it, and not put my passwords on my computer.
So yeah thats it in a nutshell, i was told to come to this site cause i heard it was good.
If this does not belong here, ill just delete it and move it.

When using a Wireless Router there is two IPs involved.

1. Extrenal IP given to you by the ISP when your modem logs on to the Internet.

If you have regular Home DSL, you can not change the External IP it is assigned automatically by the ISP.

2. Internal IP assigned by the Router to your computer. Internal IP can be changed by reconfiguring the Router’s DHCP or assigning a Static IP.

However I can not see why changing an IP has to do with your forum password problem.

If the forum blocked you for bad behavior email support explain/complain/ apologize, and go on with life.
