notebook slow page loading but desktop instantaneous..What's probable cause??

For the past month my laptop (Dell 1520) running Vista has become slow loading webpages. Both IE and Firefox have same problem

Thought it might be a network or cable modem problem but my desktop is very fast.
Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

 

I'm no expert, but have you ever thought you might have some sort of virus? Spyware/malware? Try defragging and disk cleaning, maybe that will help.

That is usually the problem for me anyways.

 

Do you have any antivirus firewall suites installed? Try disabling the suite and try again.

Does the initial page just load slowly, or does it take awhile for the page to load? When you do launch IE or FF, is this the initial start of the application and loading of the site?
