Hey guys... something ate my notepad.exe program. I ran a search for Download notepad.exe and got a whole bunch of things that REQUIRE that you do that, but none of them mention where. Along the way I found out theres a virus that eats said program that i probably got. and never noticed because AVG just eats them every night anyway...

So... Where can I actually download Notepad? Anyone know?

Notepad is a wimp of a program. There are far better (free)text editors. Of all those available I consider NoteTab Lite the tops. Go here to download and install

i don't use it for that, anyway. well... often. I use word, it has more option.. but i write my code from scratch or not at all so i dont need a program. call me a stickler... thank you though! I appreciate it.

Argh, frames and argh weird borders, but other than that not too bad :)
Trust me, I've seen pro's do worse than that.

Notepad used to be my weapon of choice for HTML coding. Word sucks for HTML, as it adds a LOT of extranious crap. Like XML blocks for NO good reason whatsoever.

Of course! Do you really expect us to write code that we don't know exactly what every line of it does? I DON'T THINK SO! :D

I'd run an online scanner to be sure. Search your system for "notpad.exe" (sic). The most cmmon trojan I've seen rename notepad to that, since Windows will complain about a "critical system file being missing" if you actually delete it, but doesn't care if you rename it.

For the record, the official fix is "sfc /scannow".

Its alright until you start doing more than one thing at once. Its a nightmare if you want it to be XHTML compatible... the nesting just gets WRONG very quickly!

I do use DWMX, but only in "Code" mode, for the code highlighting and the website management, and the handy reference guides. Its actually quite useful. I never even touch the wysiwyg mode, and its all lovley :)

Well, at least its not as bad as FrontPage which puts random scripts that do absolutley NOTHING on the page, and weird blocks of code that only make sense to IE, and no other being in the whole universe, least of all other browsers.
