    Hello,

About a month ago I purchased an HP 6055 Printer (AIO?), and have managed to print a few things, but every time I go back to print something (or one day-long attempt to SCAN) it's as if I am starting all over again, and I am never quite sure how I get the things done with it that I do (have still not figured out how to SCAN with it, but that's a fight for another day).

Today I have spent a couple or three hours, trying to print from my Chromebook - to no avail. Having failed at that, I switched to trying to do it from my Phone - to no avail.

Is there anyone here who could possibly walk me through this? I am simply trying to print one page for my mother - and she's nearly 80, and far more lost with all this than am I...

My two cents: don't use WDS ports, if that printer is networked. Set a static IP on the printer and create a TCP port for it.
How is the printer connected? Is it only used with a Chromebook and phones (IOS or Android)?

Wow, unfortunately those first two sentences are 100% over my head (so I have no clue at all whatsoever how to answer them), but as for the final question, It's a wireless printer, and yes, only Chromebook (for now) and an Android phone..

HP printng can be a pain lately if you don't have the latest drivers. It took me well over an hour to get my moms printer to work on my laptop because she was having issues with her's printing wirelessly. And the printer i bought her is only 3 years old.

First what do you want to print from the Chromebook?
I have an HP 2600 series all-in-one purchased in 2017. After 4 years, I finally succeeded in printing from my phone and android tablet. I printed a picture and a pdf. I can try something else if you post what you want to print.
I don't own a chromebook but it should be similar to printing from an android tablet.

Use the Control+P option to print and find the printer name.

This works provided you have a document open and a keyboard.
It doesn't work on a phone or an android tablet because the keyboard only appears when you are typing something.
You have to do others things to print from these devices.
Hence my questions to the OP who only stated he is trying to print one page. One page of what? an email, a website, a document?

You are on a computer and all you need to do is hit control + P ...a dialog box will appear shortly and you then choose what device or method you want to use to print the email.

Ok it just occurred to me that one (or more) of these chrome store browser extensions I have installed might be blocking my ability to post here -- so I disabled the "security" extensions, and sure enough...

After Meet Now (near top right) there are icons. The 3rd icon is a printer icon. What happens when you tap that?

Thanks, but there is no printer name. Just "Save to PDF" or "Google Drive".

The 3rd icon is labeled; "My Day", and it displays a calendar and template for or an ability to make a "To Do" list.

I believe that is the way it is supposed to work, but apparently this computer is not recognizing the printer.

Then I would say it hasn't been completely installed. In the search bar, type printers. Follow the prompts.

Ok, I think you mean click on the circle on the bottom left, but when I do that it just brings up an empty box (or window) that says "Print Jobs", and, there are "no print jobs in progress"...?

Didn't leave this thread intentionally, just continued to get bogged-down and further confused the longer it went. Never did solve the problem. Brand new $150 (lot of money to me) printer sitting here that is total 100% worthless junk. Don't know who is to blame but one (if not all) of these companies should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

I was planning (someday) to get another Windows computer, but thanks to Google, or HP, or Best Buy, or all of the above, that day will come sooner, rather than later (and God help someone, somewhere, if that too fails to work). What a bunch of filthy crooks.

Well thank you for this (and I certainly hope I don't come off as unappreciative) but i cannot seem to catch a break. Now that I have moved (physical residence/geo-location), AND (perhaps more pertinently) had my HP Chromebook 'die' on me (screen fizzled out), I am attempting this now on an Acer (715) Chromebook, and after a couple days of looking, cannot seem to find any support from Acer, other than a message saying:

    "HWVendorDetection.exe

This file is designed for for a PC using Windows software. This is not compatible with your device which runs Chrome OS. Learn More (which leads me nowhere seemingly helpful) about opening files on Chrome OS."

Also got a message somewhere along the line directing me to the Chrome Store for a 'suitable replacement" -- to no avail at all whatsoever.

For Pete's freaking sake how can ALL things tech be getting MORE complicated rather than less so!?!?!

I cannot even get this STUPIDLY DESIGNED hp printer to connect5 to another (supposedly simple) WINDOWS (10) laptop.

How pathetic are these people that MUST continue to complicate issues that I was easily able to perform 10 and 15 years ago with NO assistance -- other than the owners manuals that came with the machines...(???).

Thanks but I'm not sure I understand. I wasn't trying your link with my Dell/WIN10 machine...I was trying that on my own.

I "think" the answer for me is going to mean I cannot connect wirelessly, and will have to go out and hunt down a USB cord to purchase (unless I can find one around the house). There really seems to be no alternative, as I have attempted to perform from the links that you have been so gracious to supply me with to no avail.

10 and 15 years ago I was fully able to do these things on my own...but now, well, either I've gotten more stupid, or the people in charge of these things are doing as automobile manufacturers have long done, which is to design products with increasing difficulty for Harry Homeowner or Sammy Shadetree, weekend "mechanic" to work on.

Is the printer connected via wifi or via USB cable?
Have you run the setup .exe & installed any required software? Have you checked for any updates to said software?
If wifi have you re-run the setup to enter your SSID & passphrase of the router to ensure the wifi is connecting correctly?

Hi, thanks for the reply ...

    1. Is the printer connected via wifi or via USB cable? - I would like to connect via wifi but will try USB whenever I find or purchase a cable.

    2. Have you run the setup .exe & installed any required software? I'm not 100% sure what a .exe (or setup .exe) is or where, exactly, to find it but I have downloaded a couple different things ("HP Smart" and "HP Print Service Plugin" [on my phone...will have to look on laptop to see if it is there too]?) to no avail.

    3. Have you checked for any updates to said software? I'm not sure but I will check...

    4. If wifi have you re-run the setup to enter your SSID & passphrase of the router to ensure the wifi is connecting correctly? I have tried everything I know (or have been instructed0 to do several (3 or 4 at least) times...

Usually printers come with a setup disc which contains options to set up for WiFi or USB connection. Sometimes after an update the WiFi connection requires to be set up again.
    Check here for troubleshooting:
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/windows-10-support-center-printing
You would require HP Smart on the device the printer is connected to then run the WiFi setup from this.

Thanks...I am normally quite fastidious about keeping anything and everything that comes in the box of items I purchase (and I used to LOVE those disc's) but i have nothing else (not even an owners manual) for this machine...rather surprising, now that I think about it....

I just got an Acer chromebook on Thursday. (I've never owned one). It took me about 5 minutes to set up the printer and print something. The printer is an HP, not connected to any computer. We print to it strictly through wifi. I didn't load any drivers, software or anything.
I can't help with Win 10, we don't run it.
I have to amend what I said; printing from a chromebook is not like printing from android. It is simpler!

First you have to be sure your printer and the chromebook are on the same network.
Second you have to know the printer's IP. (I use a small portable program called WirelessNetWatcher https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_network_watcher.html )
If you have those 2 things figured out, it doesn't take long to get it working.

Click near the clock to open Settings. In the search box, type pr and printers comes up.
If your printer is showing in Your saved printers, click on it.
You can then give it a name, that you recognize
In address, type in the IP of the printer. It probably will start with 192.168
Under Protocol, keep as Internet printing Protocol (IPPS)

That's all I did. The other things were taken care of.

Ok...I'm working on it, but stuck (or maybe semi-stuck) already, at:

"First you have to be sure your printer and the chromebook are on the same network.
    Second you have to know the printer's IP . . . ....."

Let me ask you this ~ HOW were YOU able to "make sure your printer and Chromebook are on the same Network", please?

  48. h0P-aL0NG-gG

    h0P-aL0NG-gG Private E-2

...or anyone...may I ask if anyone knows how to determine if the laptop (Chromebook, in this case) and Printer are on the same Network? On a computer I think I just go down to the lower right corner, click in the Clock/Notifications area, and then on the Wifi symbol (correct?) however, the Printer has no such design...
