Hi everyone.. I was wondering if you could help me out with this dilemma.

I made the foolish mistake of uninstalling Stardock Windowblinds and installing Litestep before restarting my computer (I did not restart in between these two actions).

After my restart, I get a lot of "<Program> has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"s. When I try to load programs, many don't work (i.e. Winamp, Windows Task Manager, etc.); once I launch them, that error notice comes up for it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!

:/ No system restore. Also, upon restart to see which programs weren't loading up, I got the "lsass.exe" application error.. And when I pressed OK to terminate the program, I was left with a black screen. I suppose this isn't a good thing at all..

can you give some details of the OS you are using there? and let us know if you can get into safe mode to try a system restore.
Just another thought...have you recently scanned for nasties using your anti virus anti spyware apps?

assume its XP considering the apps you mentioned as they are to create a vista theme in XP right?

I restarted again and the black screen disappeared, but I got the same problem as before with programs not working. As a follow-up to the questions:
    - My operating system is Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2.
    - Some of the programs that wouldn't work on startup included things like Printer Status Provider and Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger.

I restarted, got into safe mode and performed a system restore, but now I'm back to the lsass problem and the black screen.

Edit: Sorry, had some wrong info here on last post. It's now corrected.

so...can you gain access to safe mode in order to try and do a system restore that way? Let us know either way because then someone wiser than me can come along and take over

I editted my last post to say that the system restore was unsuccessful and led me back to lsass/black screen.. I guess I will take TimW's advice.

You could try a repair install first.....incase you just deleted that file.

    Yep, I done fine. :)

The corrupt registry recover process didn't work out; I didn't have other restore points..

But the repair install worked fine. Thanks again!
