Notice speed change???

I was wondering if I would notice a speed change going from a 2900 xp chip to a 2800 socket 754 chip?

 

Probably not much! What's the speed difference? A couple hundred MHz?

What specific CPUs do you have in mind? That would be a better comparison.

 

assuming an a64 2800,no speed increase at all,maybe slightly slower in some production apps,5 fps speed increase in maybe in games,windows may feel a little more rersponsive but only if you buy low latency ddr 3200 to go with it

All in all not worth the expense or trouble,you may as well pay a little more and get a 939 pci-e board,you may want to upgrade your psu as well though and in either case fast memory is needed

If someone wants to swap you for free or $20 its worth it
