Tech I know did an analysis on my system for me.
This is part of it. It is quite lengthy in whole
I have little idea what most of it is, or what if anything to do.
    Anyone want to weigh in?

I'd have to say that it depends on why you had an analysis done! Nothing seems to jump out as being a major problem. :)

Windows 7? More details on the machine would be helpful: OS, model, etc...

Lengthy report, a lot going on here, but I might look at this one first.

    I would go to:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Startup

and take note of any shortcuts that are there.

    Then I would open regedit:
    Start>Run>regedit

    and navigate to this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run

And take note of the entries there.

Next, I would compare these lists to what Windows is reporting as installed.Check the Control Panel > Programs and Features.

If there items in the startup folder or the run key that you, or someone, has uninstalled, I would remove those entries. Sometimes uninstalls do not get everything.

While your at it, how about a list of what is in the Run Key? There may be some other items slowing you down there... Thanks... ;)

Also, what do you have running for anti-virus? Any anti-malware programs? Firewall activated? All updated?

And in general, what about OS patches/service packs?

Did these tech guys offer to do any of that for you, or was the $49 just for this report?

    Apologies, all
I usually get an email note that a post has been answered. Did not for this, and with my hectic life (retired) did not think to follow up.

    Running a PC clone
    OS Win XP Pro w/SP3
Security Avast Internet Security, McAfee Security Scan Plus
    Malware Super AntiSpyware Pro
I was charged for the report, "fixes" additional costs

I had the check done because of what I believe is over lengthy times to get a program up or link to a website. Sometimes I spend 3 -5 minutes waiting on what I want to come up. This is especially so when I am booting up. And, when I have several windows or links open at once I often have difficulty closing them. I get partial screens left, of they seem unduly slow closing. Often if I choose to close a program (using right click in taskbar) then choosing close from menu the entire taskbar selections close.
When MS updates are finished loading, that turns off my computer. Since it is pw protected for restart, I have to enter that. That plays havoc with the clock, and I have to reset it quite a bit.
I assumed that there were so many things needing fixing, the tech would have probably been able to retire just fixing my machine.

That sort of covers it generally.
    I'll check back
    Thanks. all

    I would:

    • Uninstall McAfee Security Scan Plus
    • Do the things I mentioned in post #3
    • Defrag the hard drive.

How much free space do you have? Double-click My Computer, click Properties, click Disk Cleanup, and check for deletion:

    • Downloaded Program Files
    • Temporary Internet Files
    • Temporary Files
    • Web Client/Publisher temporary Files

I'd also checkout Device Manager to see what the status of the UDMA/PI0 is for both IDE channels:

Agree with cipher and satrow's suggestions. However, since turning your computer off seems to effect your clock settings, then I would also recommend replacing your CMOS battery. :)

Working on suggestions you folks offered.
Ran Advanced Systems Care 6 which did some of the suggestions.
    DMA settings within parameters
"Disc cleanup" not found with My Computer/Properties, will use suggested MS
    CMOS battery is low

Will check back when have more suggestions processed
    Thanks
