NT 5.1 or later problem.

Okay. When this first happened I blamed the software but now it is happening a lot and no one can figure out what is going on.
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition - 32 bit with service pack 3 installed.

i just tried to install "FreeMakeVideoDownloaderSetup" from the Major Geeks site (as well as the authors site). And when I try to open the file all I get is this message - "This program requires Windows NT version 5.1 or later". Just what does this mean and does anyone know how I can fix this so it does not happen again.

 

What firewall & anti-virus are you running, machine have all of the latest Windows updates? That error is something that I have not seen, like forever.

 

plodr, that would probably be why I have not seen that error for years. Now I can remember why, and that was due to .net, since the day it came out.

 

Thanks for the answers. And just to let you all know I'm running Norton Anti-virus and firewall (which I did shut down for the downloading and installation). And I have all updates (that I am aware of).

As far as having NET Framework 4? I honestly do not know.
I will have to check if I do or not. If I don't can I download this from Microsoft?
