Another job for me again. I do not understand how people cannot go online and figure the information for themselves. But these problems are a good learning tool for me.
Ok, with this latest laptop that I got, the screen appears, NTDLR is missing, press ctrl-alt-del to restart. My friend already told me that he ran a Windows XP recovery disk but the blue screen appears and the problem is not fixed.
I ran HDD hard drive check and it fails.
Worse case scenario, does this mean that the hard drive will have to be replaced?

The above is a website I have used and I have tried to reset the Bios options to boot a usb drive with the correction files but nothing happens.
I have searched the web for related problems, namely that the restore disk does not finish and found nothing.
Thank you for your help, you are all making it so that I do not have to really worry about computer problems.

Personally, I wouldn't waste time trying to fix the OS on a drive that fails a hd test.

No, replace the hard drive. Cleaning will not fix any hardware problem on a hard drive.
Now if by hard drive check you meant using checkdisk, that is completely different from the test I am talking about.

Missing NTLD and a BSOD... very fatal and irritating combination. It happened to me and here is the overview of what I've done.
    1. fixed BSOD making sure that I have the correct BSOD code so I had to "disable auto restart during error".
    2. use recovery console to replace the file.
    hope this helps.
