So, one of our staff started up her computer (XP) this morning and received the following error(s). The first one was:

    ntiMUI.exe

The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Behind that error code was a Windows Firewall notice that stated:

Windows firewall has blocked the following program: Windows Explorer

...or something like that (she didn't write it down word for word). Once she clicks on OK to terminate the ntiMUI.exe application, everything loads as normal. I know the ntiMUI.exe error refers to the NTI CD & DVD-maker application, but I'm not sure what the problem is exactly. As for the Windows firewall message, I haven't even looked into that yet, but it smells like a virus to me. Windows explorer should never start outside the firewall, so there's no reason it should ever be blocked, correct?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

No updates that I'm aware of. I haven't looked at the machine in question yet. I'll follow the link you posted and see where it gets me...

    Thanks!
