Ntldr is missing

Hi....I.ve got a huge prob with my other pc. its an older system I built and I cant get Winxp sp2 to boot up. I keep getting this message: "NTLDR is missing"....I've contacted Gigabyte(My MB Manufacturer) and they say that thier board is compatible with winxp sp2.....I've located a couple of supposed fixes online and tried them but still no luck........Please help!....I've been trying to figure this out for over a year now( sometimes I just give up and let it sit for a while .....)

The problem is not a boot up prob as previously stated but an install one. my system will accept all previous versions of Windows but not XP sp2. It just wont install it. keeps giving me the NTLDR message when I try to install it

 

Some older computers seem to have this problem, with SP2, and copying the
Ntdetect.com, and NTLDR TO A FLOPPY, and setting that as first boot, with SP2 in cd drive can help overcome it.

you should also know that I'm attemting this with an XP upgrade not a full version.

 

You can download a copy in exe form of NTLDR to unzip to a floppy drive, and start your machine with the XP SP2 cd in the drive

Otherwise use a windows 98se startup disc, and choose start pc with cd rom support.
