NTLDR is missing

    i got this when i turned on my pc & it just tells me to restart. So i tried to use the compaq recovery disk i made for it & it formated the hard drive etc but wont finish setting up, gives loads of "unable to intall ..." messages, gets to about 56% & nothing more happens & i have to power off the pc.
    please advise? :(

    So, if I understand you correctly, the recovery disc has reformatted the drive but will not finalize the install? Sounds like the only thing you are left to do is to find an xp disc to use to reinstall windows. Do you have the sticker on the machine that has the product key?

    Yes......if you can borrow the same version of XP as you had ( Pro or Home ) you can use the key to reinstall.

    No, if you don't have a installation cd, you need to either borrow one or contact the manufacturer of your computer and ask them to send you one.
