NTLDR missing nd boot disc help pleae

Hi guy, here i sit with my friends laptop with my hmebase next to me witch i cant start as it just ets to the screen that says NTLDR missing, i have read in the serch engine about it and have been to a few sites on repacing stuff. i downloaded some thing and unzipped it sent it to disc and then put it in my home base, but it did he same. so i am now looking at at a boot disc. i know i delected the file i need this afternon but i dont think i empted the recyle bin o i should beable to restore it when i can open my windows.

so its fine saying on thee sites copy this file two disc and this one to root, but where are these file that i need to copy from this laptop? i have put them in the search and cant find them, i have looked in progs and window, still cant find them.

could you please help me find these files from step one, clickig start or do look for them by click run. then can i send them to disc by nero data of bootabe disc?

the laptop i am on now i xp home edistion, pent 4, cpu 2.40GHz, 192MB ram.
the home base i am trying to start is xp home edition sp2, not sure of other info AMD

Sorry i forgot to say that i dont have my windows xp disc, as when i had my new mother board and cpu a few mths ago i gave it to the shop with my pc and when i coected it i for got the disc, after a few days i went back for it as microsoft was asking me for my confirmation code thing long number, and the shop said they did not have it, but i found my code where i had it written down.

sorry i should hve mentioned that and it would be the best way to go, so back to plan A.

this where i was when i w trying be fore to repaire, i dont have any floppy,s only cd´,s to write data on and i dont know where to get this.

Copy the Ntldr file from the Windows NT Setup CD-ROM, Windows NT Setup floppy disk, or from a computer that is running the same version of Windows NT as the computer that you want to access with the boot floppy. You may need to expand this file from Ntldr._ to Ntldr by using the following command line:

expand Ntldr._ Ntldr



Its all well and good telling me to copy the file but not so good if i dont know where it is, and i dont know where a comand line is to expand anything, so you cn see my delemmer, i would copy it if i knew where to look for it.

i downloaded these files "fixed disk maintenance utility" from a site and put to disc then changed my 1st boot to cdrom nd i got the beep which i have not herd for a bit now, the screen ran down and stopped at [DR-DOS] A:\ and a flashing square, should i type somthing in here?

i have downloaded to boot discs from windows and niether of them work, i still have NTLDR missing.

Can i get another hard drive from my mates pc who is running windows xp put it in mine as a master conect my hard drive a a slave,will it then start so i can open mine as the slave go to my recyle bin and restore the file i deletted. Then swop them back and round so mine is the master and all is fine again?

So this is what i have done today, bu i think it is getting worst instead of better.

i have 2 80GB HD´one as master and one as slave, on the slave i just kept my films so i loaded my friends windows xp home sp1 on it and my home base started.

my other HD shows 76GB of files all my progs, music 28GB,s worth (which i must save) is there i had a lot of access denied so i changed the owership of my files in safe mode.

I am now stuck on how to save my music, once that is off i can formatt and start again with that one being my master and the one i just oaded windows as back to being my slave i have not moved my jumpers as windows wont regonise the configurment.

i think i have probs as all the progs were up to date and were useing xp home sp2 now this install is xp home sp1 version 2002 i tryed to get on line with it to update but win32schutts i think kept shutting it down

now i have this xp home installed is there any way i can see if i can boot of the drive and see if my NTLDR is back or can i ove the one from one disc to the other so i can just use my master HD and formatt this slave so all that i lose are the films.
