ntoskrnl.exe, svchost.exe, sygate firewall

Hi,

Noob here. Have been trying to find the answers and am getting confused. I have sygate firewall with avast antivirus installed. My sygate firewall keep asking whether to allow files such as :

ntoskrnl.exe and svchost.exe and lg_fwyodate to be allowed?

What should I choose. I understand that ntoskrnl.exe is an important file but how will I know whether to permanently allow it or what as I've heard it can be corrupted/have virus attack on it?

Also, I'm confused as to whether to allow svchost.exe. Its currently residing in c:\windoews\system32\svchost.exe. So can I permanently allow it?

With regards to lg_fwupdate, I think it has something to do with DVDRW? Is FW stands for firmware and thus lg_fwupdate is the LG DVD firmware? I tried searching the web but all I can find is that its 1 line item in a list of items in hijack this log. So I don't know whether I can block if permanently under Sygate firewall. I think I'm going to block it. But will it be a problem later on. Should I once a month unblock it?

As for avast antivirus, I've allowed all items relating to avast to pass through Sygate firewall. Its ok right?

It would not be a good idea to delete this. It is needed and aslong as it is running from sys 32, it should be a legal process.
