NTREGOPT Question ?

Can anyone tell me what this file is that apparently was created when I first downloaded ERUNT and NTREGOPT? Do I need it or can I get rid of it?

It was created it in MY Documents, here are some screen shots.

When I double click on it I get this.

It's a backup of your registry file, you changed your registry and that was the recovery file in case something went wrong. CCleaner creates the file when you delete items in the registry.

CCleaner recommends keeping them, so I keep about 10 of the most current ones. Guessing you backed up using ERUNT and then ran CCleaner...

Ok, so what your saying is this is the Ccleaner back-up of what was cleaned in the registry clean?.

I'm a little confused as the icon at the top left of the properties box is the same as the NTREGOPT icon on my desktop. I don't think this has anything to do with my ERUNT backups as those are located in my ERUNT folder under "autobackup". This looks to be somehow related to NTREGOPT, at 1kb it is small what ever it is.


I have ERUNT setup to do a backup at first boot each day. I did clean a few old items out of the registry using CCleaner and if I remember I did use their backup as well. But this doesn't look like anything CCleaner created?

All I can tell you is the file you screenshotted is the exact same format as CCleaner on XP but I would not worry about it, whatever was changed in Oct. did not cause an issue so mute point now.

Re the icon, it could have been changed... I don't use NTREGOPT so can't help you there, not familuar with their file formats but highly unlikey they use the exact same file format.

Since the file has been changed in someway and you didn't need to restore it, I would just delete it.
