having inherited an xp operating system i am trying to familiarize myself with its various components and functions. while examining the windows folder i noticed there is about 100 shaded folders labeled $NtUninstallKB938127$. the numbers at the end change with each one. my question is.... what is this? should it be there? if not are they safe to delete?

    thank you,

    Hi

Yes they are normal files, what they are, are the uninstallers for any of the installed Microsoft updates and hotfixes for the OS. You can find out if interested what each of them is by searching for the KB number via a search engine, for eg. KB938127 the one you listed above is this fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938127

Yes they are safe to delete, however delting them will loose you the ability to uninstall any of the updates if they cause an issue, if your not low on HD space its worth keeping them.
