Vermont inmates call food foul, sue over it
Nutraloaf is punishment, not a meal, says suit before state Supreme Court

It's hard to have sympathy for them from my point of view.

Looks very nutritious, most likely healthier than what they normally get. Let them throw a tantrum, I don't care.

Aww, vegetables? poor babies, no wonder they are suing rolleyes

It sickens me the criminals who are in prison for murder and such have the right to sue. They should be lucky they are getting fed at all. Especially with some of the behavior illustrated in that article.

I don't have a problem with them suing, there are occasionally real abuses in the system that need fixing. Give a sadist power over defenseless people and it will happen.

For example, bread and water to the point of vitamin and nutrient malnutrition falls under that category, as does starvation. Somehow I don't think that applies to Nutraloaf though. :D I'd like to taste it sometime, just for curiosities sake. Reading the mix it didn't sound that foul, but then I like fruitcake.

See thats where I beg to differ. Idk maybe Im heartless but I think those people in dont deserve rights. They took away from someone, they should have something taken away. I mean they get cable tv, weight rooms, food, shelter. They have more then some people can afford! I mean its not like stole a 5 cent piece of gum, alot of them have committed really heinous acts!

Oh and defenseless? what about when they injure other inmate or guards? how defenseless are they then?

*FYI*: Im not trying to attack you Bill, Im just ranting a bit :D

Paul Harvey once said, "If you want to see the scum of the earth, visit an American prison - at shift change."

    Now there's a contrast. :D

Problem is, a prison sentence shouldn't be a death sentence. Some of those folks really are innocent, the US doesn't have a perfect track record. I tend to believe it's better than most, but anything made by man has flaws. All feedback does is allow us to fix the flaws. You can judge a country by how it cares for people under it's care.

Sounds good NOT i would not eat that. But i would force it on the killers and such but not on all.

BTW Drug dealers/whatever get more jail time then killers at times just look at my dad been in jail sense 1990 and won't get out till next year and he really did nothing someone else did and they pointed fingers at him and so they got off but my dad has been in jail for 18 years of my life and i am 22.

Wait a minute these guys are so out of control they throw excrement at the guards and the only way to stop them is to not give them regular food where they need utensils which are used to flick the poo?

This is crazy, when I was in high school I decided to be a smart-A$$ and flick the dinner lady the bird unfortunately she turned around at the least opportune moment, she grabbed my arm took me to the headmasters where I had to spend a good part of the rest of the day stood facing the wall outside his office,I then had to do detention for 90mins after school which consisted of writing lines.

During this I was dragged away from my dinner which I had just payed for and hadn't even started,I didn't even get the offer of Nutraloaf I went hungry :cry and I hadn't killed anyone and the flicking I did didn't involve excrement.

In this day and age a parent would probably sue for their child missing dinner, hell if a criminal can for not getting what he wants I could have taken them for everything :D

I learnt my lesson though, time my bird flicks more accurately...

Don't get me started on the drug laws. Our government has learned NOTHING from prohibition, and some of the practices in the past (such as confiscating property without due process) is positively totalitarian. I feel for your Dad and you, for what it is worth.

I agree Bill. I had a nice post all typed up in my head about this but decided the Paul Harvey quote would do just fine.

To bring up drug dealers, don't forget the liquor distributors who sell the worse most problematic drug there is.

Staying on the subject though prisoners will bitch about anything and everything, given not much else to do. A lot read and study law books looking for reasons to complain. Granted it isn't a pleasant place to be but thats the whole idea.
I am a firm believer a person who takes drugs and harms no one should not be treated the same as some scum who beat, rob, **** so on.
Child molesters should simply be turned over to the family of the victim.

PS Nutraloaf doesn't sound all that bad, contains all the food groups.
