nVidia 190.62 problems?

Hey guys, got a question. Was experiencing absolutely no problems with my 8800gts(640mb) card, then I installed GhostBusters and I noticed some red dots appearing on my screen( artifacts). Then the game completely froze my computer up. So I restarted and installed the latest display drivers (190.62) and started up again. Played ARMA2 for a bit then GhostBusters again. Then came the major artifacts. I noticed the screen would start having red dot snow and would freeze. All went well for about 3 hours, then couldn't even get a clear screen to view.

Restarted, I could only get to the winXP splash screen and the screen was completely unreadable. Pulled the card out and installed my old 7600GT and everything seems fine. So do you think the 8800GTS is gone? Should I start looking for a new card now? I have yet to roll back the driver (if that is still possible) for my older card. But since I can get no video when it is installed can I even roll the driver back safely?

Any help will be verry appreciated.

Sounds like your card is overheating, you can use a program like evga precision to manually speed up the the fan, that is of course if your fan hasn't died. It is very unlikely that it is a driver problem, i would check to make sure the fan is spinning on your card.

 

So do you think by buying a gfx card cooler I can save my card? I was thinkin about picking up the Nvidia Geforce 250 until I can afford to buy a pricier card or a whole new pc altogether. Its not a bad price at $140.00 for a 1GB, how do think it'll stack against my old (but loved) 8800GTS, will it be a decent performance jump or will be relatively the same performance?
