Nvidia Driver issues

I've uninstalled what I thought was nvidia drivers, but unfortunatly I cant seem to get passed the 258 driver update. Keeps coming up with a error with a nice Install Can not continue must restart and try again. I have tried it multiple times in safe mode not in safe mod. Seems like everyone is saying to get driver sweeper but thats not working on my pc either. So I am just stuck atm

I have a Asus Mobo M4a79t deluxe
4 gb ddr ram
Nvidia 260 evga 896 mb

AMD BLack edition 3.0 ghz quad core

 

I have found this helpful when dealing with Nvidia Graphics drivers.

Nvidia Forceware Tweak Guide

Look at page 3 for Install and Remove info.

If you have multiple Nvidia drivers installed, you may see something like the
attached image. Be sure you make the proper selection so that you uninstall
Only what you need/intend to remove.

 

I uninstalled them all with driver sweeper yet when i try to install the 260.99 i still get that crap where i need to restart and try again. I might just reformat and call it good start clean

 

Is there anything still showing in Add or Remove Programs?
That is where the above image came from.

If the driver is still shown there, try to Remove it from there.

Before trying a full format and reinstall, I'd try using a Restore Point to see if
you can get back to a stable working state. Then remove the graphics driver
with Add or Remove Programs as discussed earlier. Do check that reference
that I linked to.
