Nvidia drivers

    Hey major geeks, I was wondering if anyone could solve my problem. My current setup includes a ti4200 w/ 8x agp on an NF7 motherboard. Nvidia's drivers have always been terrible, acting randomly. Even on a game as old as counter strike they would crash half the time when trying to minimize the game. Before my recent format of windows I could actually minimize and re-open CS without a problem, the drivers just started working like they should one day at random =\. Now after I've reformatted, installed the windows updates along with sp2, Nvidia's latest display driver v7.1.8.9, and nvidia forceware 5.10 it still runs badly. Counter Strike crashes about 4/5 of the time when trying to open it. Am I forgetting drivers? Installing them in the wrong order? Or are nvidia just terrible at supporting anything but their latest cards?

    Never really had many if any problems with Nvidia drivers... but then again I've not personally had a system with Nforce drivers, its always wise to install chipset ( Nforce ) drivers before the GFX card drivers, no doubt you did it this way.

    could be worth experimenting a bit with either beta, Nforce Drivers ( 6.37 ) and older Forceware drivers 66.81s

    are there also any update to the game you maybe missing?

    Updates to the game are fine, I could try using a few alternative drivers and see if anything works, ty.
