    Hi there.
I have got my hands on an Asus P4S800 MX mobo & bought an NVidia FX 5500 AGP 8x card to go with it.
Only problem is I cannot get the board to see it - & I've tried for hours!!!!
I do not know whether this is a chipset problem, AGP slot problem, card voltage or a duff card.
    PSU is 400w, CPU is Presscott 2.4ghz P4, 1 gig PC3200 mem (2 x 512).
    The onboard VGA works perfectly.

    HELP!!

If the 2 are incompatible has anybody got suggestions around which 1 to ditch. (don't want to spend a fortune by the way)

    Thanks in advance.

Go through your bios settings, disable onboard video if the option is there, check all agp functions are enabled and make sure you plug your monitor into the 5500

Disabled the onboard video in the Bios, set primary to AGP card.
Followed all instructions with card & board.
The major problem is I get no display at all when I connect to the new card, not even initialisation of the monitor.

You may be looking at a duff card, double check its seated properly, really ram it home, make sure the top of the pins are almost completely inside the agp socket and are parrallel with the top of the socket, try reseating it a few times and blowing out the port,if its been sat empty while you have been using onboard video dust will have collected inside,so have a look inside,a can of compressed air is best.

Is there any clear tape covering the pins? ;)

Tried as you suggested - no tape & blew the slot out.
    Still the same.
The fan on the card is running but still no output.
Is there an easy way of checking for a duff AGP slot?
I have an NVidia GeForce MX440 & this wont work either.
Should I be manually assigning an IRQ for the card? :(

Try the video cards in a different computer.
