    Hi,
I'm looking at a system upgrade soon and am seriously thinking about a GTX 590 for the GPU.
My normal supplier doesn't stock an ASUS, what about GIGABITE or is there a better brand I should be looking at.
What are your thoughts and could you give an explanation too please. :confused
    Thank You

All of the major video card makers out there are roughly equivalent when it comes to quality. Once you know what kind of card you want, it's a matter of searching for specific features (like port configurations, or clock speed). The brans comes last on my list. As I said, as long as you stay within the major brands (and Gigabyte is one of them) you are safe.

Thanks for your feedback abeki. I was hopeful that there wouldn't be a lot of difference between them.

If you want the best, I'd go with the 6990. Nvidia, didn't do a good job in coming up with a dual chip gpu. ATI/amd has this cornered. sadly. :(

If I was willing to spend $700 on a new card, the 6990, would be my choice. Though, two 580s, do out perform the one 6990. Hence, that may be the route I go. I'm still waiting.

Thanks theefool for your comments. My first GPU was AMD, then for some reason I went away from them.
Over a period of time I have had several PCs and rebuilds and used NVIDIA. You did prick my interest enough to check out the specs between the two. I guess it's a bit like over here you are a Ford man or a Holden (GMH) man.
May be I should move to over there if prices are so good, $943 Aus dollars for a Gigabyte card here.

I would go with an EVGA card if you can. I've had good experiences with EVGA

I would go with two 570's in SLI

And I'm sorry. You usually get hosed over there for hardware in Aus
