Nvidia's CUDA

What is CUDA?

"It is a set of development tools/drivers that allow programmers to use C programming language to make algorithms for the GPU to execute."

I'm sure most of you have heard of this, for quite a while too. I'm kind of sketchy on what it does, what i did was just paraphrase from wiki in the above quote you can read it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA.

From what i know so far, its suppose to give the GPU the ability to calculate complex physics algorithms which is too complex for the CPU to handle.

It is limited to the G80 based or newer core and the beta drivers are already out (for quite sometime i believe)

There's something that concerns me as well.

It enables executions of complex algorithms that calculates phyhsics and such. Meaning it puts more load on the GPU, but what if the available GPU resource is already very little, doesn't that just slow things down even more? I understand that the ability to execute these algorithms on the GPU means it can execute it exponentially faster than the CPU, but through my gaming perspective how does this improve our experience, or is CUDA not suppose to appeal to gamers with the likes of me?
