O&O Defrag makes hd slower and causes hickups?

After running O&O Defrag the whole night, letting it run a complete "data-access" defrag (most thorough method, also slowest) my hd seems to turned into amnesia!
HD makes another noise then ever before, and besides that it seems not to have speed things up, but really slowed down accessing things on the harddrive!
Also suddenly i get hickups in games, which i never experienced before.

Anybody else had this problem, and possible solution?

    Peace

    Hi Hunab,
A noisy drive is bad mojo. Could be bad or going bad. I'd get my important data off of it. Do you have a S.M.A.R.T. bios? There's an HD util built in to that. If not, I'd go to my manufacturer website and get a diag for my model.

Some noisy drives go on for years. If it's a noisy whirring, prolly ok, but if it's clicking, that's bad and adds up (in my mind) to the defrag having no effect and actually slowing things down.

    Good luck!

O&O is a great defrag tool i have it and it works great, i doubt O&O would of damaged your HD maybe your HD was on its way to the knackers yard and doing a defrag has done nothing more than speeded up an existing problem..

Lets hope all is ok but incase i would take Lewgs advice and backup everything important now..
