    Hello

ive been trying for the past week to instal a 64 bit os on a pc im building with out sucsses.
iv tried xp pro 32 bit xp pro 64 bit vista 32 and 64 bit and windows 7 32 and 64 bit.
the onlt one ive had any sucsses with is the windows pro 32 bit witch runs perfectly.
ive had no blue screens no error msg,s or any outher indication of a hard ware faliure.

my pc specs are as follows:

Motherboard : DFI LANParty DK P45-T2RS Plus

CPU : DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

    Memory : ddr2 OCZ Reaper HPC OCZ2RPR800EB1G 4 x 1 gb

Video Adapter : XFX GeForce 9500 GT

i dont own any sata drives at the moment so im using the boards only ide port to plug in a 160 gb maxtor hard drive as master and a dvd drive withch im useing as the boot drive as slave.

everything instals fine right upto the final stage restarting windows but once it rebbots all i get is a blank black screen.
the green light on the monitor stays on and the usbe keyboard lights up but nothing on the screen ?
i really am lost as to wot can be causing this and any help would be much appreciated .

thank you for takeing the time to read this post

    Madsin.

The last reboot is when the OS actually loads your video drivers. So I would think it is a problem with the video driver or a problem with the monitor. Do you have an old monitor around to try to eliminate that as a possible culprit?

no i dont but ill try to borrow one today.
the monitor i have is a NEC Multisync LCD 1880sx.

The older the better. CRT would be best to eliminate that Windows is setting the resolution outside of the monitors range.

    just an update:
ive managed to instal vista 32 bit with my NEC Multisync LCD 1880sx.
now im trying windows 7 32 bit.
ive borrowd an old crt : my god this thing has a 17 inch screen and is the size of a small tumble dryer :(
if all gose well ill try the windows 7 64 bit with the crt.

Hmm, I would think if you got Vista32 using the NEC that Vista64 and 7 would have the same monitor drivers.

    success :)

you were absaloutly right on all acounts my freind.
it was the graphics card firmware.
had to update it to use 64 bit drivers , so was a driver issue after all.
i instaled it useing the crt monitor and now my nec works fine.
i was really ready to give up until your help guided me along the right path.
thank you so very much sach2 for all your time and trouble.
if i could rep you more i wouldent hesitate.

this site and sach2 gets my 100% approval

    Thankyou :)

I wouldn't have thought of the firmware update. Nice work!

You kids today...Only as big as a small dryer? It must be one of those fancy 'foreign' CRT monitors. lol
