    Hello

My brother has recently been having problems with him Oblivion (PC) game. For some reason the textures have gone all weird. I can't really explain it so heres some screenshots. We've tried everything, updating drivers, getting texture replacements, even went on the official support and got no answer. He can't re-install it as the DVD recently got cracked. He recently bought a new NVidia Geforce 8800 graphics card, so his computer is able to play it. Please help as we don't know what else to do! :cry

This looks like a texture that wasn't properly installed. Oblivion is very picky as to how you install mods, they must be placed in the correct order and most need proper archive invalidation.

If I were you Id reinstall as Poltergiest0 said and then grab ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated. This is a fairly new development that does away with the nasty Archive Invalidation hassle..install it right after a clean install of Oblivion.

Next get Oblivion Mod Manager and try to install mods that are of the Omod variety...makes things much easier if things go wrong.

Also make sure you grab the latest patch for whatever language you use and, very importantly, get Unofficial Oblivion Patch and install it right after the Official patch.

    So what we have is:
    1. Reinstall Oblivion
    2. Install the Latest Official Patch
    3. Install Archive Invalidation Invalidated
    4. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch

Oh, and get Oblivion Mod Manager

Do these things and you should have an Oblivion install that you can build into one of the most impressive games through some of the most impressive mods that have ever existed in, well, i guess a few years...I mean we really haven't been gaming that long in the grand scheme of things.
