Probably a classical. I start MSN Messenger 7.5. I see them twinkle stars next to my contacts that have updated their blog. I click on their usernames and see their contact card. It shows what's updated in their blog on it and the star disappears. I log out and close MSN. I turn it back on and log in. The stars are back even though no one's updated their blog.

    Any ideeas on this?

    This happens for me, too!
While I sincerely hope someone will bash me on the head if I'm wrong, I really don't think there's anything we can do about this, save wait for the next version.

  3. Maybe try cleaning cookies because msn could just be looking at cookies.

It clears them all except for one contact. It's actually acting up, randomly restoring the "stars" for all my contacts who have a blog. Btw I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but my Internet Explorer also shows only the first letter of a page's title on its title bar. I now there is a "bond" between the two since MSN won't close if IE windows are up and since it starts my msn every time I visit a MySpace. I have tried a clean reinstall and it didn't help.

Another note: I am using ZoneAlarm firewall, but my settings for cookie monitoring and blocking are off. My IE cookie settings are to force accept on 1st party cookies and block 3rd party cookies, but I have been using MSN for quite a while now and this happened out of nowhere. No updates done either...

Can anyone tell me where the MSN messenger cookies are stored?

Is this the procedure you used?

    1. Close any conversations windows you have open in Messenger.
    2. Close Messenger.
    3. Exit Messenger. (If you can’t exit Messenger, use the task manager to kill the msnmsgr.exe process.)
    4. Open Internet Explorer. Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files, OK.
    5. Restart Messenger and sign in.

Now when you launch a contact card the gleam should be cleared.

Didn't help. And the IE title issue had to do with google toolbar. At least I fixed that...

This is getting sooo on my nerves...

  7. Try doing this:
close all programs that use the internet
    go to start-run-cleanmgr
clear the temp and temporary internet files.
    click ok
    see if that helps

    Nope. It didn't help... I don't think it's a cache/temp problem...
