ocet stream to something i can copy and paste

    please help and know right off i am computer illiterate!
    I saved copies of my job application in TIF octet-stream and now cannot open them.I have a Windows XP,I just uninstalled works/office 2003 etc a few days ago and downloaded open office from your site .IF somebody could tell me what to do or even if you tell how to let you remote access I will gladly do it.I really need those papers.Thank you in advance.:confused

    Sounds as if you've lost the file-type association. Open Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options and click the File Types tab. Scroll down and see what program is registered for a TIF file. On my XP computer it's Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. If yours is not the latter, try changing it to that and see if that works.
