Odd boot problem

A week ago I reformatted my comp, and have had some issues with the video card not working at boot. cleaning the contacts seemed to help, but occasionally I have to boot twice, as yesterday and today I didn't get the single beep indicating video was working. Both times it started to boot on second try, but I get a screen that says " overclocking failed " and the options of entering setup or continuing with everything set at default. The BIOS was set to default prior tothe reformat and this problem occurred yesterday. System is Asus P35K MB, Intel E6750, 2 gig Geil ram, EVGA 8800GTS, 500 gig WD HDD, Seagate 500 gig HDD, Samsung DVD -R, ThermalTake 500W PSU, Win XP Pro.

I did use a pencil eraser, and I don't have another VC to try. This card was a used replacement for my 8800GT, which failed a little over a week ago. The system is still lightly loaded with only a few browsers, hardware monitor, printer and Lineage II loaded on it. It works fine once booted and am not having any video issues. I guess I will have to go into the BIOS and see what is going on there. Prior to the crash ( Windows would fail startup, flashing a BS I couldn't read) I had a week or so ago (a few days after installing the 8800GTS to replace the 8800GT), where I was unable to do a windows repair, this comp has been trouble free for almost 4 years. Prior to the reformat I ran Mint on it from the disk and everything seemed to work fine, hardware wise. Thanks for the reply.
