    Greetings!

    Windows XP home edition with SP2. Computer boots to logon prompt with this string;
    c:\windows\system32\wlnotify.dll.
    This same string repeats itself after entering password, then system continues to bootup. This has only recently begun happening. What is it?

    Thanks in advance for any help!
    Bill

    The library file wlnotify.dll, is required by windows and is used to handle WinLogon related events such as LogOn, LogOff etc. Windows will not work, if wlnotify.dll is unavailable.

    wlnotify.dll is flagged as a system process and does not appear to be a security risk. However, removing Common Dll To Receive Winlogon Notifications may adversly impact your system.
    The Spy Bot database currently registers wlnotify.dll to Microsoft.
    This is part of Microsoft Windows.
    wlnotify.dll is related to msgina.dll.

    The library file msgina.dll, is required by windows. It is used by WinLogon within windows, when performing user authentication (GINA = Graphical Identification and Authentication). If msgina.dll is unavailable, windows will not function correctly.

    msgina.dll is flagged as a system process and does not appear to be a security risk. However, removing Windows Logon GINA Library may adversly impact your system.
    The Spy Bot database currently registers msgina.dll to Microsoft. This is part of Microsoft Windows.
