Hi guys, I bought an HP pc with a X2 3800+ and 2gb pc2 5300 dual channel ram (Am2 socket of course).

well about 3 weeks ago I ordered a AMD x2 6000+ for the hell of it and slapped it in.

thing is this new cpu lags alot more than the x2 3800+, editing video and gaming it hauls, but in regular computing it is very laggy.

question is what can be causing this? I have one hunch thats its my slower ram, I know cpu clock speeds and ram speeds are linked, and my mobo supports up to pc2-6400 (800mhz) ram, I do want to go up to 4gb and 64-bit soon, so would adding the new faster ram fix this problem? it almost seems that something is bottlenecking the cpu but I don't know what. so my question is would that 667mhz to 800mhz increase make any difference?

and if I get 4 sticks of identical ram will dual channel still be enabled?

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, but it was running great with the X2 3800+

    Did you defrag?
If not defrag and see if that helps.
Faster RAM wont help, you need to get it running rite first.
