# of wireless cameras connected to pc at once?

Hello, I'd like to setup 4 or more USB based wireless cameras around my home to transmit the feed to my desktop. I have a few questions as far as feasibility...

Can I have 4 or more wireless cameras transmit their feed to my desktop at the same time so I can see what all of them are seeing at once? (and I would use a remote desktop srvc to look at the feed from work)

should I use a USB hub to have them all connected at once or would I have to setup some type of WIFI network with a hub, router, etc...

One of my main concerns is not being able to view the feed of all cameras at once because they would cancel eachother's traffic out.

You can not have WIFI, unless the Cameras are WIFI IP cameras.

If they are the "trick" is to set each camera with a different port so they are Not clashing one onto the other.

If a camera is capable to change port the manual would explain it.

If these are pure USB cameras, then connect them one at the time one after the other, and each one would assume its own identity. Beware that you can not use USB cable that is more than 15ft.

 

Just to add to the above, if they are USB then you can have up to 128 on the same port so 4 though a hub will not overload the system.

 

There are many options here, I know I setup many camera's for my fiance to watch her delinquent kid. Wireless IP cams work very well with a program called webcam xp.
If you go the cheap route and buy those 2.4 or 900 mghz wireless cams, you need a capture card. Like here Cool drives dvr. You dont want a setup with the 4 cameras and a switch unless you can find an IR blaster to change channels - in other words buy four cameras with 4 recievers like here but make sure they can all share the channel so you can have 4 at the same time.
