    Hi guys.
Ths is my first time posting although I have been a keen reader of all the posts. I'm just a dumb war correspondent who took two years to locate the 'on' button on his laptop.

I don't know if this query should be posted here or in the Software forum, but anyway, this is my problem.

The really cute but hard working secretary of mine needs to locate an off site backup for our computer server files. She/we need it to automatically back up each night for our whole company with a possible max size of +/- 40GB.
We had a major scare today with the data. One of the logistics babes almost had a heart attack when data went awol.

Any suggestions as to who, where, what and costs? It doesn't necessarily have to be located in the UK although that location might be more practical.

    I'd appreciate any help.
    Mikethehack.

Never really thought of off site backup sbut did a search anyway... a few options here top one is in the UK

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=offsite+backup+server+50gb&spell=1

but have you also thought about an external USB2.0 Hard Drive for backup? We used these in work as a temp measure to backup a server until a newwer bigger one arrived.... Maxtor One Touch they come in various sizes and as they are removable they are easy to at end of day to lock away.

It doesn't make sense to me,you would need a really fast connection,it would have to be really reliable, while the server is online its prone to hackers, you dont know how good or reliable the backup is on the other end(how new the machines are). And you will be handing sensitive information to another company to look after trusting them with it,not only not looking at it themselves but stopping anyone else from going near the backup computer and having a browse.

Cheers for that. But to elaborate further. The sec is the only one who really pays any attention to those issues and some days she isn't in because she has to do stuff outside the office and I suppose she is ultimately responsible for the data.

Anything that makes life easy for her would be useful.
    I appreciate your help.

is off-site necessary or will an on-site solution work for you . 40G is a lot of data to be pushing to a remote location.
