    Just got office 2007.
I will be using it at work and I will share excel sheets/word docs and e-mails with my coworkers who are on Office 2000 and 2003.

    Any advice.

Will I have a hard time sharing files. Will I have a hard time with saving files to old format. Do I have to change the default to older version every time? Bugs?

    Thanks

Save as > Choose the format, have to choose an older format for 2003 and previous versions.

Not sure how to default set it to this.

Its no bug, its by design, new app new format, BUT you can set defaults, this is an answer I gave on this subject a while back in a different thread,

The ones with an older Office version can also install the Compatabilty Pack and this gives them access to open Office 2007s .docx, .xlsx, .pptx formats.

Is there a way to set the default save format to the older files?

Excel and Powerpoint is in the same location as word to set that option, Access is under Access Options > Popular > Default File Format,

Office 2007 will allow you to create and save as an older version. THE ONLY ISSUE IS: 2007 may have features and/or functions that if you use may not work when opened by a 2003 version NOTE: keep your formatting and/or excel functions old school simple.

Once you save as an older version and close it the next time you open the file you will get a prompt window giving you 2 options [not sure of the specific wording] 1. if you want to convert the file to your 2007 version or 2. work in the older version. This will also happen when you are ready to save it.

No one with the older version should have a problem using the file and will not need to install anything.
