I just replaced my motherboard, processor and memory without doing a fresh install of Windows 10. I was rather shocked that it worked to be honest, but it didn't take long for me to find out that it did something to my installation of MS Office 2013, and it said I had to reactivate it, which I thought was no big deal, but when I tried the over the internet activation, it said that it was installed on another computer and that I should uninstall it from the other computer, so I went thru the steps of uninstalling and reinstalling and when I went to activate it, it told me that I had reached the maximum number of installs for my license. Of course the over the phone activation is no longer supported for Office 2013. Is there any sort of registry key I can modify so that it thinks it's activated?? If there was way I could renew the license I would do that as well.............

That's a rough one.. I recall there was a program that could backup your office activation, but you're past that. This subject borders on the "p" word kind of unfair to say that since you "own" the program (now days do we own anything?) I recall that some smart fellows just recently came up with an activator for XP that would generate the correct response for the phone activations. Have not heard of any way to activate Office in such a manner..yet. Sad thing most of the PCs you'll find on Craigslist have an activated Office 2013 (did 2013 use corporate keys?) on them, so it must not be too hard if you want to stray to the grey side.
I mean, you bought and paid for it, it should be yours to do with...

I really don't mind buying another license, but some of the prices I've seen are excessive in my opinion, upwards of $200 and Office 365, or whatever it's called is a yearly renewal, which I think is utterly absurd!! Especially since the only features I use are Outlook and Excel. I have found a few online sites that will sell me a digital copy for under $50, but I'm leery as to their trustworthiness. A friend of mind has suggested Open Office which is free, so I'm considering that as well............

I bought a license through them and it worked fine. My employer is a MS partner and we get the MS HUP (home use program) we could buy Office very cheap, but now they only office Office 365 subscriptions, so I bought the 2021 Office from ghacks.
