office 97

    Operating windows XP home s/pack 3. Office 97 Proff. edition installed has operated ok previously. Now will open word/excel docs and will receive typing. Will save blank doc but will not save or print text. After attempting to save/print Office closes with apology from microsoft that problem is being experienced. Have reinstalled office97 (thanks to instructions posted by Matacumbie - Rocky Top) but problem still exists. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Try to run it in Windows 98 compatibility mode.

    P.S. also make sure you have all Office 97 service packs installed.

    That would be due to it is no longer supported, and that knowing Microsoft's past, they have written code into the service packs, to kill off older editions of software.

    Hi

    What would the error message be that you get?

    The Office docs you are opening are these "new" docs or previously created ones and if previously created where they created in a newer version of Office?
