office outlook 2003 won't start

When i try to start outlook I get a report that the microsoft exchange server is not available. How do i reconfigure this if the programme will not open?

Hi

Some info we may need from you are:

1. are you on a corporate network and if so then you will likely need to speak to your IT support as they will be managing the Exchange server that manages email.

2. If not on a Corporate network then is this a new install and first opening of Outlook 2003?

3. What Windows version and Service Pack do you have and what Service Pack is your Office 2003 at? (Office 2003 eg. Word, Excel etc is generally at SP3 with Outlook 2003 being at SP4 iirc)

I would try this first HERE and then also try opening Outlook in its Safe Mode and to do this click Start > Run and type outlook.exe /safe (note the space after e or exe and befor ethe /) and hit enter and can you configure your normal email address?

1/ I was on a company network but the company went bust and the server went with it.

2/ As above

3/I am running xp professional and have SP3.

I have tried the links and downloaded the software, and tried in safe mode to no avail. I can still access my Yahoo and google accounts and have btinternet access.

Open the Mail applet in Control Panel, then delete the Exchange Server account. Create new POP3 account(s) as necessary (or you already have them; Yahoo, Google, etc).
