http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/omg.gifHe just called me...laughing hysterically...as were multiple other co-workers in the background...

One of the couriers at the Cape has a senior citizen working for them and this guy just made a delivery to Chris. So what does Chris say to the guy? "What are you doing working on Columbus Day didn't you come over on one of his ships?"http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/oops1.gifhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/thud.gif

Fortunately the courier thought it was hysterical too...Never a dull moment with Mr. Witty around...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/star17abby/Smilies/lol.gif

Stanley (the courier) has been a fixture at the Cape for eons. We kind of hit it off right from the start, one of the first things he says to me is "I remember the beginning of the Space Race". I responded, "hell, you should...you're old enough to have been Robert Goddard's launch director". He'll fire back with something like "with you working on these ships no wonder they only fly every two years or so"; I get even by calling security at the gate and letting them know the world's oldest Al-Quieda dude is trying to escape with a box of eyes-only info. The group I was in a meeting with today had not seen any of this interaction with me and the old man and thought it was on the level...until they considered the source. ;)

He's a sweet man, and lives to come out to the Cape and see us. We usually treat him to lunch and secret memos, then hide his meds so he doesn't remember any of it. :D

Uhhhhhhhh, AbbySue, Don't I remember way back in the cobwebs of my memory when YOU have pulled off some of those, yourself???? Sounds like two peas outta the same pod, to me.

Yep, with Sputnik 1 in '57. Then my existence in '58. Me, and the beginning of the 'Space Race' is almost the same age. Spooky, uh. Or maybe it’s just me that's spooky. :D

Having a sense of humour in high pressure situations, helps keeps us relatively sane, in an often insane world, eh. ;)

I suspect if I lived in that neighborhood I'd hang around too.

I'd love it if the US had more than one make/model manned vehicle in inventory. Nasa really would be a dream job, other than the uncertainty of Congress.
