I follow a bunch of freebie blogs and someone mentioned that Bing was doing something where you can get credits/points for searches and then then cash those points in for things like Amazon gift cards. I decided to give it a whirl and not only did I like getting those points for things I already look up, I have actually come to prefer Bing searches over Google.

You can get 15 credits/points a day and sometimes you get little extras. Well today when I logged in, I saw I had a bonus so I clicked on it and it said "get 10 (extra) credits when you search from your mobile!" I thought sweet! I search a lot from my mobile anyway, so I tried to sign up but it wouldn't let me. Then I read the fine print.. "app available for iOS & Android, Windows Phone coming soon!"
What?!? you mean Microsoft doesn't even have it's own app available for it's own platform!? http://www.revitforum.org/attachments/forum-suggestions-feedback/8351d1339274585t-facepalm-smiley-facepalm.gif

I got a message in IE11 yesterday telling me I already had 56 points and it was time to sign up.

When I tried to, it sent me into an endless loop between two web pages. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. rolleyes

I didn't have a hard time signing up, all I needed to do was log in with my live id but I have heard some people having difficulty.

My issue is how can you make an app for your product for your competitors before making on for your own people? What kind of marketing is that??

The race for which tries to hand you sellers rather than actually help you look stuff up is close between Google and Bing. Used to be Bing was all sales and no help at all if you wanted simple things like inches to mm.
Thanks for the info, I will give Bing another try.

The only thing I still prefer from Google is the maps. I use street view a lot especially when I going somewhere I haven't been before. It helps me identify markers to look for so I know when I'm getting close.

I seem to get better search results with Bing because now Google seems to push the paid results at you first and sometimes you have to dig to find what you want.

Ok so Bing is doing a points per search thing and that adds up points to spend at a later dates but for Windows Mobile there is no app? but is for iPhone and Android?

Is this a Bing app on iPhone and Droid from MSFT?

As for the debate on search engines and sales as per ad then Google is not so good and its security profile is bad for the end user, see recent news for you for goggle+ and your email address is listed as well as location metadata from pictures, the scanning of emails for adverts is contentious for google.

Bing it will be for but I use both services as google is more intrusive and is weird on its searches to the point that I use http://yippy.com/ or Bing as Yippy is much more centric to what I need to search for as a clustering engine and Bing is less advert based!

Yes Google maps are really good but I use Nokia maps personally.

But Dya send me the Bing link you have for the offer and I will see if any of my contacts at MSFT can help with a reply.
