I run windows 2000 on at&t compatible computer! I tried to open windows media player 9 and it said I have a conflict of some sort, sorry can not remember exact words. So I delete media player 9 and go download it again. When I go to set up it says I have one that is not completely setup and to reboot. So I go to reboot, my computer prompts me for user password for first time in 2 yrs! I got lucky and guessed right password! So it starts to reboot and it tells me lots of error messages, like dll error codes and to I want to save personal settings! What is going on! I am afraid to shut computer down now! I am the administrator, so I can do all most any thing to this computer, except reload windows 2000 since I do not have boot disk any more! I lost or can not find in recent move!I ran advanced windowscare 2 and it told me I had some mui missing so I prompted it to fix! I still can not load windows media player 9 though! Any suggestions on where to start!

Where to start, maybe, but this may take a few tries. Before we start, error messages are very important to diagnosing, so pass any specific error messages on, not a word or two. This can tell us where the problem is. I have a few guesses, but really dont want to do that yet.

Sorry I did not think or have pen and paper handy to write error codes down! I went to event viewer error log the only thing that shows up there is "the following boot start or system start failed to load saskutil !

When I try to use windows media player 9 a pop up says "An internal application error has occurred!

saskutil is SuperAntiSpyware. Did you have this installed then remove it? Or I saw one problem of a person updating then had this problem.

Yes I did install super antispyware and then delete it, but I do not think that is my biggest issue here! I am being having trouble accessing my own computer! I am the admin and its asking me for passwords which I know I did not program it to do intentionally.Plus I assume I am mui error codes, windows media player, quick time player and god knows what else I can not do now!

This seems to be an over whelming topic so lets try this one step at a time! I am guessing the internal conflict is that for some reason my computer does not realize I am the administrator. So is there a way to find out who I am logged in as, change who I am logged in as, or reset permissions on what can be done with who I am logged as? I have been to microsoft but they might as well post in Russian because they are not speaking English or making it easy to follow! Since although I am on right page what they say will show up does not show up on my computer!

Start in safe mode. Explore C:\ and under Documents and Settings note what users are listed. You always have administrator, default , all users. These are set up by MS. How many other users are listed? Do they seem like accounts you have set up?

To try and get back to before all these troubles started you could try last known good configuration.
