    Hey guys!

It's me again, with another (maybe?) silly question.
During the GPU shortage mine died.. lucky me.. and I had to buy one that was affordable at the time to be able to continue my gaming and (let's be honest) most of oy social life. I don't like it when it's peopley.. Anyways, I ended up with an NVidia 1650 Ventus 4GB. Little thing does quite a good job, but now that I have taken up streaming and use a 2nd screen, the little guy just barely holds up. I run some higher games (Forza Horizon 4 / 5, Sniper Elite series..)

So, I have a 500 w PSU, and I have been doing a little research, but would rather ask to be sure before investing: What is the strongest GPU I can hook up to my system, without upgrading the PSU?
My system is just over 4 years old, not the youngest I know, but it does an awesome job thus far. It can hold up with the others I play with easily. Currently I am not in the position to buy a complete new rig, so upgrading here and there when I can is the idea.

I found (via via) a PSU calculator thingy, I don't know how accurate they are, and it stated (with all peripherals and doodads that sue RGB and stuff) that I can even use a 3060 and still have W's left?

Long story short: What is recommended? I used to have an RX 570 8GB, which got burned due to a failed exhaust fan (not on the GPU, but the case.. and I never noticed it until too late. Oops - expensive lesson learned). I'd like to go back to 8GB at least, as it performed like a beast without issues.

    And before you ask ;):
    System details:

500W PSU (unknown what brand it is)
    AsRock A320M
    AMD Ryzen 5 2600
    16 GB RAM (unknown)
NVidia GeForce 1650 GTX Ventus 4GB (MSI)
    931GB Western Digital
    223GB Patriot Burst (SATA (SSD))
    931GB SanDisk Portable SSD
2 active Corsair RGB Fans 120mm (3rd is spare)
Single front case fan 120mm, non RGB
    RGB keyboard and mouse
    and the monitors I use:
    MSI Optix MAG322CQR (Main)
    LG 24Mk4ooh-8 (Secundary)

Thank you in advance, my wonderful Advisors!!
    Have a lovely day :D

Your system is APU driven, so you're sort of but not doubling down on graphics hardware. 500 W probaly leaves you with 460 at best usable real world.

You'd be right on the edge with an 8GB Radeon RX580 series, unless you wanted to upgrade your PSU as well. According to what I see per Microsoft, your system board is W11 approved, as is your processor. One caveat, you need a TPM, version 2.0 with a 17 pin connection. But, your machine can be "futureproofed", as it were.

That being said, a clone of your old card is still on the leading edge of the power supply capability.

Thank you for your reply :) Appreciate it :)

Huh, never knew that (Had to look up what APU is, honestly I never noticed it before.. oops). Basically, I wouldn't need a separate GPU, if I understand correct? If so, how would I enable it? (as you can tell, APU is new to me - sorry for the questions:oops:)

TPM.. Sorry to have yet another question: What is it?

The link you gave is interesting, however shipping would be murder (if seller ships to here at all, that is (Netherlands), and then customs.. ugh..)

    Side note:
The 2 GPU cards I currently have bookmarked (still searching for more options), have a requirement of 450w or less, and are the following:
    MSI Radeon RX 6600 MECH 2x 8g (400w)
Gigabyte NVidia GeForce RTX 3050 Eagle 8G (450w)
If I wouldn't need one, that would be even better, but I have a feeling my PC would be happier with one

    Just missed the edit point:
3rd card bookmarked is the XFX AMD Radeon 580 8GB (same label as the 570 I had, which got fried due to no fault of it's own)

A TPM is a "trusted platform module". It's encryption hardware/software which Microsoft now requires for it's latest operating system. An APU has graphics capability integrated into the CPU, and "yes" your machine would be happier with a dedicated card. So will you! Graphics cards not only have speed ratings on the PCIe bus (2.0, 3.0, 4.0), they also have what's called "memory interface" which is rated in bits. The larger the interface, the faster a card can perform as bandwidth is increased verus a lower size, i.e. 64, 128, 256, 512, 768 (rare), 1024, 2048, and 4096-bit. 8GB of RAM is good, but a 512 bit card will ordinarily best a 256 bit card with the same amount of GDDR RAM. More bandwith is better. Also, more expensive. For reference, I threw up the link mostly for product info, as people post here from all over.

Your AsRock system board has a TPM header, and a module can be added if/when you upgrade your OS or beforehand if you so choose. W10 is tentatively supported until October 2025, and then even I will have to do a new build, but your hardware is W11 compatible. On an aside, it's an odd feeling when your hardware is on the left side of a webpage under "Minimum requirements"!

Any of the cards you specified will be right on the leading edge of your rig's PSU capability. If you plan on keeping it for a while, and are a regular gamer, a PSU upgrade wouldn't be out of line either. The great thing about a solid PSU is that it can be one less thing to buy for your next build...

Every Pc has a unique ID, why make it even more complicated? Microsoft... *sigh* We'll see when I eventually have to make a choice: upgrade to 11 or get a new system with 11 :p, it's still a few years to go, PC will be older then which probably means it'll be either form storage or what ever.

I'm looking into a better PSU, found some 650 and 750 for a decent price over here. So much changed over the years, with modular stuff now instead of just one bundle of cables attached. Not sure how happy I am about that, but we'll see sooner or later. Will probably be tricky to get it build in and wired properly (PSU is at the bottom of my rig in a small confined "box" area, not top of the rig)
As for GPU, I came across another Radeon RX 6600, but a Sapphire this time. Price tag is friendlier, and from what I find, just as good as the MSI label.
Can't decide if I should go for 8GB options, or step one higher and go for 12.. too many choices! *runs around in circles*
