    what I should get for my comp to make it run fast and smoothly.
    here are the specs that mbm5 gave me. some of the stuff I can make out but Id think that you guys would have a better time at figuring out whats what yknow?

    MBM isn't good at enumerating your hardware. Looks like you've got an Athlon at 1.1Ghz, maybe an 1800? on an older VIA based motherboard, and 256 meg of ram.

    With Windows XP, 512 meg of ram is the sweet spot for most users, you might want to add another 256 meg.

    I don't see what video card you're using. What do you have? or do you have integrated video on the motherboard? If you've got integrated video, and speeding up games is a goal, a decent AGP video card would help a lot, assuming your motherboard has an AGP slot. Some of the cheaper integrated systems don't.

    Since you're running WinXP, visit Black Viper's Services tweak guide to shut down Windows Services that you don't need. Follow directions carefully, and stay with "safe" settings unless you know what you're doing.
