Well...I've been the news editor for another site for just over two years. If I have time, I ideally do three sets of postings per day, so I need a lot of resources. I only listed about half of the ones that regularly submit their articles/reviews to me.

Wow, thats cool I've wanted to be a news editor for ages, but I'm probably not that capable!

 

It's really not that hard. People send news to the inbox. I look at it. If it's something that works for the site, I copy & paste the title and a brief quote, sometimes a picture (all of which is typically provided in the email). Then I check the link to make sure it's good, and it gets posted. Takes me about 15-30 minutes to do a set.
