    Hey Guys,

I need some help for a change!

All of a sudden I started having a problem when trying to view users logs. I got a popup complaining about the not being able to open up the file with the path being something like:
    c:\documents and settings\charlie\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5\0HWTQVQJ\hjt[1].txt

The problem appears to be rather strange. If I use Win Explorer and click on the temporary internet files folder it does not show the content.ie5 directory or anything under it. If I make a copy of temporary internet files, all the stuff shows up. If I go to command prompt and look in temporary internet files everything is there too.

If I use the ExplorerXP program, it does show all the contents of the temporary internet files directory to be there. It's seems like some crazy attribute thing has been changed. Sort of like Download Program Files directory in the windows folder behavior.

Ever anything like this one!? Any ideas on how to fix?
Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
    MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106)

dump your cache.. set it to 0MB. close your browser.. restart it.. set it to 10MB. Close and restart.. test again.

No luck with that! By the way you can only go down to 1MB.
Still having problems. I'm experimenting and reading some MSKB articles but no luck yet.

No problem! I can't figure out what the hell is going on. Why is it that the files and subfolders are being hidden some how just like Downloaded Program Files is? How does WinXP do this? I don't see anything strange looking at it from the cmd prompt using 'attrib'.

Just some additional info. All users on this PC are experiencing the same problem. Seems like it may be related to viewing of files associated with notepad. (*.txt, *.log)

That was it. Some how the file associations got messed up. It's rather strange that I would get error I got though. Normally you would expect to get a message asking you what application to use to open the file.
