Yep. Blowtorches. We are desert rats and we like to use all kinds of things you city folk can't.
Nah, son has one, it's neat, a "pocket torch" from Harbor Freight. It's about 5" high and shoots out a butane flame. Works better than a lighter.

 

Quick lostkiwi, put some good music on and don't think about that comment.

 

Oh, I know what it is, I've got one Plus the larger version. Just never saw one used for lighting fireworks. Handy for bottle rockets, but could turn a 5 second M-80 fuse into a zero second fuse if angled the wrong way, which could remove a couple of fingers. Currently, I just use a lit cigarette, which works fine, but is a different kind of health hazard.
