I'm new and need help with my old computer that I built over 10 years ago, since my new one got ripped off. I got it running but has lots of problems, such as the video card is a bottleneck, I think. Graphics are bad with new monitor. How do I know what agp card my computer will support? My specs are here View attachment Computer Specs1.txt . I hope I did this right and appreciate any info. Thanks

Your specs list the type of AGP card installed already. Upgrading may be difficult because of your 250 watt power supply. To upgrade to a better AGP card, you'd also need to upgrade the PSU to a higher wattage (say 450 watts or you'd burn out your current PSU) and you'd need to make sure you have adequate cooling for the new PSU and graphics card.

I'm not an expert at doing this type of thing, but perhaps someone who is will help you further.

first thing to try would be to update the video card drivers.
just search for win xp AGP-V7700 Ultra drivers.
or maybe a motherboard bios update might help...
search for Intel Desktop Board D875PBZ bios update.
if problems still persist... there is always ebay. it is a geforce2 card.
    good luck with it!

If you are going to upgrade your agp graphics card, the GeForce 6200 is one of the best you can get.

And as mdonah said, you should upgrade your psu to about 500W as well.

You may also consider upgrading your RAM to about 4 GB.

further to what harmless said all the info on this board can be found on the Intel website here

It's an AGP X8 socket so it will take any AGP card that you want, given the power constraint outlined by mdonah (and the physical space constraint if its a a microATX - this doesn't apply if it's a full ATX 9.6x 12 in that that oughtn't to be an issue but best check.) [I suspect that the m/b is a full ATX].

You might find the psu power calculator useful (it is not the only one - most manufacturers of psus have their own)

though it will only give you an idea of what you need.

I ran a GeForce Ge6200 (not an LE or GT just a plain Ge6200) card in PC until a few days ago with a nominal 300W psu (the Octigen one, but may be this was slightly underpowered ??). You might even consider a higher spec one.

This table (look down for AGP cards - they will only support Directx 9)

    http://www.playtool.com/pages/vidtable/table.html

will show what might be available although it's very old.
I don't know if anyone still makes AGP graphics cards, but there are plenty of inexpensive second ones about - best buy only one that is known working.
